We are happy to announce that Dr. Brittany Sonnichsen will return to Los Angeles Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from her maternity leave on Monday, October 17th. We have missed her skill and presence at our practice and look forward to welcoming her back. We are also excited to get to know the newest member of her family and ours, baby Leo.
Education and Training
Dr. Sonnichsen earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgetown University in 2008 before attending dental school in Connecticut. At the University of Connecticut, she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
Once she had her DMD degree, she pursued and completed her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2016, this time at Ohio State University. Throughout her residency, Dr. Sonnichsen had hands-on experience in a hospital and training in the safe and correct use of anesthesia and sedation.
She has board certification from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which makes her highly qualified as an oral surgeon.
Get to Know Dr. Sonnichsen
Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Sonnichsen now resides in California with her family. She made the cross-country move because her husband is a California native, though the pleasant weather in the Golden State also contributed to her decision.
Dr. Sonnichsen strives to put each patient at ease by welcoming their questions and concerns; excellence in care is her goal.
Dr. Sonnichsen treats patients in the Los Angeles area using the latest technology and techniques. At Los Angeles Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, she has a state-of-the-art surgery center to help her provide the reliable results each of her patients has learned to expect.
She is always eager to know her patients better so that she can customize treatment options to fit their individual needs.
When not at work, Dr. Sonnichsen enjoys taking advantage of the California sun and spending time outdoors with her two daughters and the new baby boy. One of her passions is playing the saxophone.

Dr. Sonnichsen is an integral part of our practice, and we are thrilled to welcome her baby to the LACOMS family.
With her level of experience, her goal of offering the best treatment to each patient, and a disposition as sunny as the California sun, everyone at LACOMS is counting down the days until her return.
